As busy as these weeks are, I'm all the more thankful for what has become a weekly writers' club. A dozen of us present what we're working on (like my Billings-based Echo Chamber) and/or what the given prompt is, presently about any sort of 'impaired character'. That means all of us, in an 'Old-Adam' sense!
My draft of Grounded features some of the bands Josh and I grew up together with (as distinct from the half-generation earlier that Jon brought home as early as 840 Parkwood). Rainbow Records, when we moved (to east Park Ridge;) served our purchasing preferences equally, I think. Anne, did you buy records there? I think it closed up right around the time when TCBY moved in around the corner...
When I wrote the story, I didn't Google anything. Background for the impaired character--a drummer going deaf--includes: "Never a legend in anyone’s mind, he played in
several warm-up bands across the eastern half of America, mainly. Nothing
memorable—‘The Rustlers’ probably the only thing YouTubable, if anybody
checked." Go figure, it was worth checking out:

But to the second part of the subject line: let's keep Josh's S2L2A3 alive! My list would probably never include 'Wipe Out', for the record! But it would include 'Veterans of the Psychic Wars', especially as my story has caused me to reflect on that artifact of Rock.
Whadya got?
