Andrew's Day

Oftentimes a Hallmark card says it better than I can, and today I want to share the card I'm giving to my son. I couldn't help adding just a few more lines, though, so here is the card and the asterisk.

When I say "I'm proud of you," I always wish you could hear everything I really mean by that. Because it's pride, not just for a big day but for all the little days, too*.  It's joy in what you've achieved, but even more in who you are. And it's also a wish -- a wish for life to be kind and for good things to keep coming to you. That's what I mean, and I mean it with all my heart when I say "I'm proud of you." Congratulations!

*Fencing days and skating days,
Weekends doing different things,
Kayak days and getaways
To tournaments and family flings,
Europe days, Wisconsin days,
The first days in our second home,
Then getting back to Griffith days
And wherever else our souls may roam.
Yoshi days and hedgehog days,
Fingerboards, PlayStation time,
Mazda days and Culver days
And days to plan and days to climb.
Every day can be a day
To celebrate all that you do
But today's the day you graduate
To all the future holds for you.

Congratulations, Andrew!
