"I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them" (John 17:26).
This last verse of the 'high priestly, intercessory prayer' is timely, even if the weeks of Lent seem distant. We've been praying intently, specifically, and in the peace that passeth understanding.
God, bless the journey of Evelyn into your heavenly kingdom.
God, minister through doctors you have provided for our care.
God, thank you for our daily bread, including worship most of all.
I had it in mind to label this post 'Keeping up with the Symposiums' (as a satire to the Kardashians' claim). Indeed, we have a lot to keep up with, and I've enjoyed reviewing S2L2A&A and Jon's installments of 'The Wasteland', 'Walled Gardens', 'Thirty Birds' and 'Moleskin diaries'. Let's keep up with these.
A couple poems this week I've put on Lost Menagerie. We do this for the archive that is ingrained in (for example) Ski-der-oo and Aunt Viola's Loftness annuls. Add to this 'handmade by Anne Potter' and Joshua's extraordinary testimony, bridging sociology, theology, science and downright personality. Let's keep this up.
And not compare to what the world puts 'out there'. Galatians 4:9 prods that "now that you know God--or rather are known by God--how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles?"... We are in the good hands of the saints God has provided, from Jakub to Epaphras: "He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured" (Colossians 4:12). As a pacifist and Peace Corps alum, I take this witness with full conviction: we need the nurture and defense of the Holy Spirit, and in prayer we have it.
