poems by Emma

'Walking in the woods'

Walking in the woods
Crack,
Shhhhhh
Somebody's there!
Trees
Trees
How tall can you be?
Dark green and light green leaves.
Tall branches trying to get the treasure from the sky.

'My dog'

Here comes a flash of dark.
A black coat on his skin.
Something sharp ouch!!
His teeth!
Bad dog!
Not again!

'Campfire Light'

Burning into my cheek.
How bright can you be?
I will see you in the
dark deep Sky.
But now
I have to go to my Bed.
I'll dream about you.

  1. Thank you Emma! And thank your dad for sharing.

The best poems are those that show us new images of things we are familiar with - and then bring them, and us, to another place. How beautiful to see a campfire in the dark deep sky, and then to dream about that brightness after you close your eyes! To wonder how tall the trees can be, and then to see how they try to get treasures from the sky!
